About

From CentsCity to Skill-Life

Skill-Life, Inc. began as CentsCity, LLC in January 2007 with the goal of building financially healthy youth and families.  Our seed funding came from the social venture fund Echoing Green in September 2007.  Since that time, we have gained support from the Innovation Works Alpha Lab, Technology Collaborative, Grable Foundation, Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, Idea Foundry, and several private investors.  Our initial vision of employing online gaming to teach financial skills has evolved into a more interactive, game-based, and comprehensive resource for awarding incentives and building life skills.

An initial beta version of our CentsCity product launched in August 2009.  An expanded set of features to this beta version, including our first interactive mini-game “The Ducket Dash,” will be launched in October, 2009.
